The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested two men in Lahore for allegedly using an illegal call center to obtain US citizens’ banking details and carry out unauthorized transactions.
NCCIA Lahore Zone Additional Director Atif Ameer said the agency identified suspicious activity at the call center on Main Boulevard in Gulberg through open-source intelligence. Investigators obtained a court-issued search warrant before taking action.
The suspects were identified as call center owner Irshad Ahmed Butt and his employee, Aurangzeb.
According to Ameer, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects contacted US citizens while pretending to represent insurance companies.
They allegedly sought credit and debit card details under the guise of an insurance campaign and used the information for illegal financial transactions.
