Local government employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have threatened a province-wide boycott of sanitation and municipal services over delays in the payment of salaries and pensions.

The Local Government Grand Alliance said thousands of serving and retired employees of Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) were awaiting their October payments because the Finance Department had not released the required funds.

Employees said delays in the transfer of TMA octroi shares and other outstanding funds had left local bodies unable to meet their salary and pension obligations.

They added that repeated payment delays were causing financial hardship for municipal staff, sanitation workers and pensioners across the province. Some employees and retired personnel had reportedly been awaiting payments for several months.

The alliance warned of a complete suspension of sanitation and other municipal services if the issue remained unresolved. Such a boycott could disrupt waste collection and routine municipal operations across KP.
