The Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department has announced that it will begin distributing free cows and buffaloes among selected widowed and divorced women in South Punjab from October 21, 2026.

According to the latest departmental announcement, women who applied under the Chief Minister's Livestock Asset Transfer Scheme can now check whether they have been selected through the official online portal.

The initiative aims to provide livestock to deserving rural women, allowing them to generate income through dairy farming and livestock rearing.

The Punjab government conducted electronic balloting for the second phase of the scheme on October 14. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) reported that 3,380 women would receive free livestock under the program.

The second phase has an estimated budget of Rs. 3 billion. The government will distribute animals among eligible women following verification and selection.
