The United States has issued a temporary general license permitting the production, sale, and delivery of Iranian-origin crude oil, petroleum products, and petrochemicals until August 21, marking one of the most significant relaxations of US oil-related sanctions on Iran in recent years.

The authorization, issued by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), also allows a range of supporting commercial activities, including financial transactions, insurance services, shipping operations, and other arrangements necessary for facilitating Iranian oil exports during the specified period.

According to available reports, the temporary measure permits transactions involving US dollars and forms part of a broader interim diplomatic framework. Observers suggest that the arrangement could potentially be extended depending on future developments and progress in regional diplomatic efforts.

The announcement has drawn attention from global energy markets, as increased access to Iranian oil supplies could influence international trade flows and market dynamics during the temporary authorization period.
