The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has asked all hotels and restaurants to install the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS) to ensure timely tax payments and improve compliance.

The matter was discussed during a meeting between PRA officials and the Hotels and Restaurant Association, where participants reviewed the installation process, technical requirements, and challenges faced by businesses in adopting the system.

The meeting also focused on bringing more hotels and restaurants into the tax net to broaden the province's tax base.

Speaking on the occasion, PRA Chairperson Moazzam Iqbal Sipra said issuing proper computerized receipts to customers is a legal requirement.

He warned that businesses involved in fraudulent electronic invoicing practices would be closely monitored and face heavy penalties.

Sipra said cooperation between tax authorities and the business community could make the tax system simpler, more transparent, and more efficient.

He added that expanding the tax net would encourage business activity and promote a culture of tax compliance.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Hotels and Restaurant Association assured the PRA of their full cooperation in efforts to improve tax collection and promote digitalization.
