The Government of Punjab has proposed an allocation of Rs. 703 million in its FY2026–27 budget to cover the operational and administrative expenses of the Chief Minister, cabinet members, and other political officeholders.
According to the budget documents, the proposed allocation will support a total of 91 political positions, including provincial ministers, advisers, parliamentary secretaries, and special assistants. The funds are intended to meet various official expenditures associated with these offices, such as salaries, allowances, transportation facilities, travel costs, and other administrative benefits.
A significant share of the allocation, more than Rs. 540 million, has been designated for salaries and related compensation. The remaining amount will be utilized for official allowances, transport arrangements, and travel-related expenses necessary for carrying out government responsibilities.
The proposed spending forms part of Punjab’s broader fiscal plan for the upcoming financial year and is aimed at ensuring the effective functioning of the provincial government's political leadership and support structure.
The budget proposal will now be reviewed and debated in the Punjab Assembly before receiving final approval. As discussions on the provincial budget continue, the allocation is expected to attract attention from lawmakers and the public, particularly in the context of government spending priorities and fiscal management for the year ahead.
