The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) has officially operationalized the issuance of next-generation microchip-embedded E-Passports across all regional passport offices in Pakistan. The new biometric travel document complies with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, enabling Pakistani passport holders to utilize fast-track automated e-gates at modern international airports worldwide.
Step 1: Fee Payment. The days of standing in long bank queues are over. Download the official 'Passport Fee Asaan' smartphone app or visit the online web portal. Select 'E-Passport', specify your desired validity (5 years or 10 years) and booklet size (36 pages or 72 pages), and choose standard, urgent, or fast-track processing. The system generates a PSID, payable via any mobile banking app, 1Link ATM, or Easypaisa/JazzCash.
Step 2: Documentation. Gather your original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC/NICOP) along with two photocopies. If renewing an existing document, bring your previous physical passport. For minors, the child’s computerised B-Form, parents' original CNICs, and presence of both parents are mandatory.
Step 3: Office Processing. Visit your designated district Regional Passport Office. Present your paid fee receipt to receive your token, undergo biometric fingerprint scanning, facial portrait capture, digital signature entry, and data verification at the data counter. After a brief officer interview, you receive a tracking token to monitor dispatch status online until your passport is delivered to your doorstep.
