Balochistan has launched its first digital marriage registration (nikah) services, issuing the first Marriage Registration Certificate (MRC) at Haji Ghaibi Road Union Council, Ward 22, under Quetta Metropolitan Corporation.
The Balochistan government and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) jointly introduced digital registration for nikah registrars and a digital solemnization module.
Under the pilot, Maulvi Samiullah became Balochistan’s first digitally registered nikah registrar and received his license on October 28, 2026. He then registered the first marriage through the system on October 29.
Authorities issued its MRC on October 30.
Three officials played key roles in completing the pilot: Dr Nausheen Khan, deputy director at Quetta Metropolitan Corporation; Dawood Momand, NADRA’s assistant director for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS); and Muhammad Arif, field officer for Quetta district.
Samiullah handled the first nikah registration. Under the new system, registered nikah registrars can submit marriage details and required documents to the relevant union council through the Pak ID mobile app.
Once the union council secretary verifies and approves the submission, the system automatically generates the MRC. The registrar, bride and groom can each download and print it through their own Pak ID accounts.
The initiative aims to make marriage registration more transparent, efficient, secure and faster. It also seeks to reduce manual processing and provide modern digital services.
